Erst: the best meal we’ve ever had

The best meal we’ve ever had! (What a claim!)

We’ve wanted to come to Erst for a while now, and when we booked it three weeks ago we could only get 5:15pm and a seat at the bar. Well let me tell you that bar seat was the best seat in the entire restaurant!

Firstly I want to start with the service. Exceptional waiters that genuinely love their job. Our waiter knew exactly what to recommend and recommended a lamb dish (I detest lamb – traumatised from a lamb hot pot I had at a christening back in 2006 or something) but this dish was thin, raw lamb slices and it was absolutely exceptional. He was so excited to help with wine recommendations and because we sat at the bar he let us try a few, including a gorgeous sparkling red. Yes – sparkling red!

Chocolate sorbet & olive oil and the Fig leaf panna cotta & figs

The food was 1000000/10. They recommend 5/6 dishes between two people. Obviously me and Tom got 7 and then 2 desserts and polished it all off. The bill was £160. Which is incredible when you see everything we had (we also had a wine carafe, a glass of the sparkling red each, a dessert wine and two coffees).

You need to get yourself down to Erst. There’s a reason it’s our best meal to date. You just can’t compete with dishes like these:
